How To Import and Export a Report Definition

Each process template has a Reports folder that contains an RDL file for each report. This RDL file contains a complete definition of the report. You can add report definitions

You can also download the RDL from the report site directly.

To Export a Report Definition:
  1. In the Team Explorer, expand the team project containing the report that you want to download
  2. Right-click on the Reports folder and choose Show Report Site. A web browser window will open, showing a list of the reports installed for the team project.
  3. Click on the link for the report you want to download.
  4. On the report page, click on the Properties tab. You can do this at any time, even while the report is rendering.
  5. In the General properties section, under Report Definition, click Edit.
  6. Save the RDL file to the folder of your choice.

To Import a Report Definition:
  1. In the Team Explorer, expand the team project containing the report that you want to download
  2. Right-click on the Reports folder and choose Show Report Site. A web browser window will open, showing a list of the reports installed for the team project.
  3. Click on Upload File.
  4. Click the Browse button.
  5. Select the RDL file containing the report definition you want to import. Click "Open"
  6. Click OK to import the report definition.
  7. Click the link for the report you just imported.
  8. On the report page, click on the Properties tab. You can do this at any time, even while the report is rendering.
  9. Review the settings, paying particular attention to Parameters and Data Sources, and update as needed.
  10. Run the report to verify that it is working correctly.
